Natures mortes

Natures mortes, 2021, Paris

In 2021, Edgar Jayet was invited to design the Archives space for the Galerie Sinople. Appropriating the space during the Galerie’s Natures mortes (‘still lives’) exhibition, he inaugurated the third chapter of his research project, Collectible Nature. Every detail of the scenography participated in the concept of this thematic exhibition. Vanity, floral composition, abundance and the allegorical importance of water were presented as compositions, whose porous lines gave free rein to dialogue between the pieces. Through careful curation, Edgar Jayet also created a dialogue between the gallery’s contemporary pieces and older pieces selected during his trips between Vienna and Paris, which included a Wiener Werkstätte smoking set and a 17th-century prie-dieu.

A unique dialogue, achieved by means of a partnership with Nikolhaus Kolhammer Kunsthandel (Vienna).
